Delighted to support the work of the Sidmouth Coastal Communities CIC through my Devon County Council locality budget and their latest project which through workshops with primary school children and older residents aims to capture and document the stories and memories of how the river environment and its biodiversity is valued by people. This engagement project seeks to document the social, cultural and natural heritage of the river and to promote positive behaviours, awareness of the challenges to the river and how everyone can be involved in protecting and conserving it for future generations and to support biodiversity. I wish them every success with this great project 👍
The project will raise awareness of the environmental challenges facing the River Sid and its Tributaries and in so doing promote positive behaviours in the community to value, actively engage with, improve the project areas through litter picking and share the project messages through creativity and artwork in the form of a free public exhibition of the artwork created to spotlight local biodiversity and shared stewardship of the River Sid. Children and Young people will take part through a series of workshops to inform and respond to the challenges and community opportunities to improve the project focus area and work together with other groups including the River Sid Catchment Group and the Sid Valley Biodiversity Group towards shared environmental aims.
