I mentioned the other evening at the Sidmouth Town Council meeting that I had spoken to Devon & Cornwall’s PCC that I felt there was a golden opportunity to re-locate Sidmouth Police Station to the Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service Fire Station in Woolbrook Road…. Thereby bringing the two blue light services together.

It has been well over 2 years since the Ambulance Service vacated the Fire Station and moved to Kingsdown on the A3052…. I was instrumental in getting both Ambulance and Fire sharing premises back in the early 2000’s and Sidmouth was the first of many such partnerships sharing across Devon.

The benefits of the Police and Fire Service sharing are immense, including providing a front desk service during the busy summer months and I do hope that this could happen in the near future.
