Several amendments have been made to the planning application for the first phase of the Sidford to Sidbury Multi-use Trail. The most notable change is that the end of the route will end/start at the north/south as the trail enters/leaves Hillside and where cyclists will have to dismount.
This amendment will address concerns expressed about possible vehicle conflict with cyclists at the junction of Hillside with the A375 Burnt Oak.
Several other minor ammendments have also been made near Ottery Lane.
I believe that these ammendments will hopefully now lead to the granting of planning permission and that funding can then be secured to build the multi use trail which will provide a safe route to Sidford and Sidmouth from Sidbury and Vice Versa. Not only for cyclists but also walkers and those with mobility issues.
Phase 2 will need to be delivered by developers of the site between Hillside and Furzehill and this will also include a link to the west of Hillside.
Finally I'm continuing to call for the 20mph zone that currently starts at Chapel Street to be relocated to the entrance of the village at Burnt Oak along with a destinctive Gateway feature.
