Have received several calls about the possibility of Sidmouth to Feniton railway line reopening.... As many will know this has been a long term aspiration of mine and whilst some of the land has been built on between the Station and Bowd ... between Bowd and Feniton is by and large still available.
The opening of the Okehampton line gives fresh hope and I am at present heading up a campaign with a Sidmouth local resident to save two of the former lines bridges at Ice House Lane and Greenway Lane which are part of our heritage.
Its also pleasing to see that The House of Commons Transport Committee has called on the Government to regard 3200 bridges, tunnels and viaducts across Britain that make up the Historical Railways Estate as assets rather than liabilities. Highways England is responsible for managing these structures.
